The Happy Traveller, as its name suggests, is the ideal board for a surf trip – a versatile board that meets the needs of surfers looking to travel with just one board.

It is classified as a ‘step-up’ by Channel Islands, as it is capable of handling extremely challenging conditions, thanks to the design work carried out on the underside of the board.

Britt Merrick has drawn on all his expertise to generate and harness the speed offered by the wave.

The general outline and rocker are based on the original Happy, but adapted for bigger waves by tightening the concave, lengthening the tail to create a round pin shape—thereby achieving a longer rail line—and moving the side fins closer to the rails for increased grip.

If the swell drops, the Happy Traveller’s relatively flat rocker and volume under the chest still come into their own for catching waves that lack power, proving that this step-up board is Chanel Island’s most versatile to date.
