The Appleslice Wing V2 is an evolution of our popular Appleslice model, although we have refined the shape for version 2. The Appleslice V2 is primarily designed for flat water and waves, but that doesn’t mean you can’t jump and try freestyle tricks with it, as it’s more than capable of that too!
The Appleslice V2 has a relatively compact shape. It isn’t as short as the Jazz, but is still quite compact, although the Appleslice is much narrower. This helps when riding waves and racing if you hit the water with the rail whilst racing upwind or making tight turns. Across the range, the increments are roughly every 10 litres, so we offer sizes to suit everyone.
The shape of the Appleslice V2’s nose is quite unique. It features a boat-hull-style bottom that flattens out rapidly beneath the front foot. Much like a racing boat, this hull shape helps to deflect water during acceleration. This increases the efficiency of the bottom, and you’ll notice that the board picks up speed very easily, meaning you can comfortably ride a board with a lower volume.
After the hull’s entry, the bottom flattens out to provide a stable planing surface. The tail of the Appleslice V2 is straight with a hard edge at the tip. This bottom shape is ideal for accelerating and getting out of the water, allowing you to reach the foil more quickly. The foil rails are positioned slightly towards the front to accommodate the use of new high-aspect-ratio foils, which perform better when positioned further forward. The rails on the Appleslice V2 are bevelled to help deflect water on contact.
The volume of the Appleslice V2 is evenly distributed across the shape, making it easier to balance on your knees. Once on the foil, the board is balanced and easy to turn and manoeuvre. In the larger sizes, this board is very easy to control whilst you’re still learning, whilst the smaller sizes allow the board to help you improve your riding.
