The Firewire Xtra-Cado surfboard is the official mid-length evolution of Rob Machado’s famous shape. Built using ultra-lightweight and responsive Helium technology, this hybrid board combines exceptional paddling comfort with a highly refined squash tail to deliver a smooth glide, rapid rail-to-rail transitions and total versatility thanks to its five-fin configuration, available on the Waimea website.
This is the mid-length version of his flagship model, the Machadocado. It is a hybrid board, falling between a shortboard and a longboard, designed to prioritise glide and simplicity without compromising on performance. Key Design Features: Volume & Glide: Plenty of foam for easy paddling and effortless buoyancy. Elongated shape: A straighter outline that offers a stable and fluid ride. Manoeuvrability: Despite its length, the rear of the board (squash tail) is very tapered to allow for tight turns in the hollow sections of the wave. High-performance rails: A domed deck with lowered rails to make it easier to transition from side to side. Versatile fin set-up (5 fin boxes): The board adapts to all riding styles: Quad: For speed and control (Rob’s favourite choice). Twin: For greater freedom in small waves. Thruster: For a more classic and aggressive surfing style.
