A high-performance fish board born of 25 years’ expertise
The Lost Black Sheep RNF 96 surfboard takes its inspiration directly from the original ‘fish’ shape designed by Lost for surfers Chris and Cory. At Lost, the design of a Fish has never been seen as merely a backup board for generating speed in small waves: it is, above all, a board designed for performance.
Drawing on 25 years of expertise in shaping and driven by a constant quest for improvement, the RNF ’96 reached a new pinnacle during testing at the end of 2020. It has been tested and approved by top surfers such as Kolohe, Coco, Ian Crane, Crosby Colapinto and several other guests. The result is a versatile, extremely responsive board designed for fun, capable of exceeding all your expectations, whatever your skill level on the water.
The dimensions of the Lost RNF 96
To suit the needs and body types of every surfer, the Lost RNF 96 is available in several size variations:
- 5'10 x 20"3/4 x 2"9/16 (Volume: 35 L)
- 5'11 x 21" x 2"5/8 (Volume: 36.5 L)
- 6'0 x 21"1/4 x 2"5/8 (Volume: 38 L)
Lost Surfboards’ Black Sheep Built technology is a high-end construction using epoxy and multi-axial carbon fibre. It was developed by shaper Matt Biolos to offer the responsiveness and lightness of a professional-grade board (similar to ‘single glass’ polyurethane) whilst ensuring exceptional durability and long-lasting flex.
🛠️ Key technical specifications
· Ultra-lightweight EPS core: The board uses a 1.5 lb (approx. 680 g) block of virgin expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam without a central stringer (stringerless).
· Triax-NCF carbon fibre: The deck is wrapped in carbon fibre woven along three axes (+30° / -30° / 0°), known as Non-Crimp Fabric. The fibres remain perfectly flat, which allows for less resin to be used, making the board lighter and increasing its strength.
· ‘Deck Only’ lay-up: The carbon is applied only to the deck and stops at the rails. It does not extend under the hull to prevent the board from becoming too stiff (the ‘C-shape’ effect). The hull is reinforced with several layers of 4oz ‘D-size’ fibreglass.
Optimise your board with Mark Richards fins
To realise the full potential of this Lost RNF 96 surfboard, the Mark Richards fin set (MR Twin + Stabiliser) is highly recommended. This legendary twin fin set delivers exceptional acceleration and speed, whilst the small central stabiliser preserves all the freedom and manoeuvrability of a traditional twin-fin setup.
