A unique collaboration for the Al Merrick G-Skate surfboard
The Al Merrick G-Skate surfboard is the result of a close collaboration between shaper Britt Merrick and the three Gudauskas brothers (Dane, Pat and Tanner). The aim of this project was to create a model with a fresh hybrid design, characterised by fast, skate-like glide and exceptional responsiveness. This board has been designed to turn superbly in good waves whilst effortlessly navigating through poorer-quality waves.
A short, performance-optimised shape
Throughout its development, one key requirement guided the design: the board had to continue to perform at the highest possible level. To achieve this, the rail line was shortened by 5 inches compared to their typical shortboard. Curves and contours have also been added in key areas to keep the board on the water without ever hindering turns.
This fast design is underpinned by specific technical features:
- A single-to-double concave;
- A low entry rocker;
- A wide point forward;
- Contemporary shortboard rails offering precision and control.
2+1 fin configuration and available volumes
The addition of a 2 + 1 fin configuration (twin plus trailer) further enhances this concept. This collaboration has also led to the creation of the brand-new Merrick/Gudauskas 2+1 fin set. Tests have also shown that the AMT (2+1) fin set works very well with this board.
This model is available in several volume options, allowing it to adapt to different buoyancy requirements.
