Designed to increase thrust at low RPMs, the three-bladed propeller hub is an optional upgrade for Foil Drive Assist PLUS units, which is a game-changer for riders pushing the limits in terms of rider weight, board size and foil size. Compared to the standard two-bladed propeller system, the NEW three-bladed propeller system improves performance through the following features: Increased thrust at low RPM. The extra blade allows more water to be displaced More torque at low RPM, preventing propeller cavitation under heavy load. More efficient surface running when the propellers break the surface. A smoother and quieter ride thanks to a lower rotational speed. It is specially designed for riders who need more torque at low RPM, whether due to using a low-volume board, a smaller or larger-than-normal foil, or a heavier rider. We do not recommend using the three-bladed propeller hub for prolonged foiling at full throttle, as this will drain your battery much more quickly and could trigger the electronics’ thermal overload protection. Three-bladed propellers consume more watts/power than two-bladed propellers, which can ‘run down’ at full throttle whilst foiling. Do NOT use a three-bladed propeller at more than 90 per cent of continuous speed whilst foiling. You should allow the ESC in the box to cool in water from time to time. 3x M3 30mm 2.5mm standard propeller bolts can be used; these are the same as the propeller bolts used on the 2-blade hub. It is also possible to use 3 M3 30mm 2mm button-head propeller bolts to improve aerodynamics, although a secondary tool is required. As they are not in the water flow, they do not cause small bubbles to form which then enter the propeller. The small Button Top bolts require a 2 mm Allen key and cannot be used with the 2.5 mm screwdriver supplied as standard with all Foil Drive kits.
